Super automatic machines have been around the market for quite some time now, but many people still do not know what exactly do they have to offer. Well, as their name suggest – super automatic machines do everything for you. They are fully automated machines that don’t require any hassle when brewing espresso and a huge variety of other hot beverages. That means you can use one without having any prior knowledge about espresso brewing, there are no knobs, no wands, no porta filters and stuff like that… Just a machine that does all of those things – AUTOMATICALLY! Alternative to this are Semi Automatic Machines.
The problem is – there are many of these machines (widely known as bean to cup machines) and people can easily get confused when deciding which one to buy. That’s where I come in! In the following few paragraphs I am going to list out some of the best super automatic espresso machine currently available on the market. Keep in mind that this is my humble opinion and, of course, you are entitled to your own if you don’t agree with me.
With all of the above being said, I believe it is about time for us to take a closer look at the top 4 best espresso machines out there and see how they compare against each other!
4. Krups EA81 Pisa
Perhaps not the most known espresso machines manufacturer – Krups, made a pretty good job with their newest product – EA81 Pisa Fully Automatic Espresso Machine. It is able to produce decent tasting espresso and is quite competitively priced, which is why I am featuring it in this list!
The Krups EA81 Pisa Fully Automatic Espresso Machine features a quite big LCD display on the very top, along with a fully programmable clock with additional functions such as auto on and auto off. The very first thing that you will notice with this machine is its huge burr grinder located at the top of it. It will grind your beans right before brewing in order to maximize both flavor and aroma for the ultimate espresso. It is also important to add that its ground container can be removed for cleaning purposes and easily put back into its initial place afterwards.
Even though the Krups EA81 Pisa Fully Automatic Espresso Machine is able to produce tasty espresso shots that are on par with some of the more expensive (and even commercial) espresso machines on the market, it has a quite low price considering its competition. It is priced at just around $700 but you can catch it on sale for around $450 which makes it quite a good option if you are looking for a machine that will keep giving you amazing espresso shots time and time around! It can easily be considered as one of top espresso machines for home use.
3. DeLonghi ESAM3300 Magnifica
DeLonghi is, among the likes of Breville and Gaggia, one of the most well-known espresso machines manufacturers at the moment. They produce excellent espresso machines time and time again, which is why not a single list can go without one of their products. For this list, I have chosen the DeLonghi ESAM3300 Magnifica Super-Automatic Espresso Machine which is a great overall machine that does not cost a fortune.
DeLonghi ESAM3300 Magnifica Super-Automatic Espresso Machine features a patented cappuccino frother creates the perfect crema by mixing steam and milk. They don’t call these super automatic espresso machines “bean to cup” for no reason. This machine has everything it needs to produce a top quality shot of espresso with just few button presses due to the fact that it has both rotary and regular “push” buttons which are conveniently placed on top of it, along with a programmable menu. In addition to all of this, it also features an adjustable, cone shaped burr grinder with its implemented “Direct-to-brew” brewing system.
DeLonghi ESAM3300 Magnifica Super-Automatic Espresso Machine will set you back just over $700 which is pretty decent considering the functions it has to offer. This is a medium level price for, what seems to be, a decent looking machine with a whole heap of useful brewing functions that are bound to make excellent espresso shots every time!
2. Jura Ena Micro 1
This awesome looking espresso machine might become your best buddy if you opt to purchase it. Why? Well, because it has everything a proper super automatic machine has, and to top it off – it looks absolutely brilliant. It features an amazing mate black finish with minimalism breathing from every corner of it. The mix of modernistic (touch pad with red and black shadings) and minimalistic (single color with rough edges) makes up for a great looking espresso machine that will turn into your favorite part of the kitchen counter… Mark my words! J
Not only is the Jura Ena Micro 1 a really compact espresso machine (as its name already suggest), it is also designed to make commercial quality espresso shots with little to no hassle when it comes to the actual brewing. It has a so called “bean to shot” system (which awfully reminds me of bean to cup, but who am I to judge) which enables it to brew shots with just a flick of your fingers. In addition to this, Jura Ena Micro 1 features an automatic power consumption mode and a smart preheating system that will greatly help with the quality of your hot beverages. Not only that, it also has an aroma preservation cover which intends to keep your coffee beans fresh for a longer period of time.
Despite it being such a small and relatively simple espresso machine, the Jura Ena Micro 1 is priced at around $700 which, truth be told, is a bit high. But still, considering the fact that it looks ABSOLUTELY AMAZING and that it is able to produce tasty hassle free espresso shots, I reckon that the $700 price tag is actually on point.
1. Gaggia Brera
Gaggia is really stepping up its pace on the market with a couple of great products in recent months. The tip of the iceberg is surely their newest one, the Gaggia Brera Superautomatic Espresso Machine which tends to make quite a stir on the market. It is, of course, a super automatic machine filled with a huge number of options that make for an amazing hassle free experience. With this in mind, let’s take a closer look at this machine to see what’s it all about!
Top quality group head enables brewing of two espresso shots at once with just a few button presses. In addition to that, Gaggia Brera Superautomatic Espresso Machine features a patented Mavea water filter which gets rid of all water impurities and greatly helps with scale build up reduction. There’s a myth saying that super automatic espresso machines are proper power hungry beasts, but that is not the case with Gaggia Brera Superautomatic Espresso Machine since it has a standby mode that activates by itself after one hour of idle time. To top it all off, this super automatic espresso machine also features pre infusion for optimal aroma extraction and maximum flavor.
If a strict budget is one of your main cocnerns, then this might just be the machine for you. Even though it is packed with amazing features, the Gaggia Brera Superautomatic Espresso Machine is priced rather competitively and can be found for around $400 which is dirt cheap for a super automatic espresso machine. As you can tell from its main features, we are talking about a great espresso machine that is bound to deliver excellent espresso shots every time, and as such, its price makes it quite a good bargain!
As you can see from the machines above, super automatic espresso machines cost quite a bit of money, and if you are looking for a top tier one, you will have to dig out at least $400 out of your budget. Keep in mind that the price comes with a lot of functionality and a hassle-free espresso brewing. In other words, you can be sure that any of these machines will give you excellent, fresh tasting espresso time and time again, without you having to do any real work… In fact, that is the sole purpose of these machines which is what usually makes them so expensive compared to semi-automatic ones in the first place.
